To help you plan the months ahead, here’s a concise update on resin pricing, lead times, and EPR regulations

Resin (South Asia)

Current price: $811 per metric ton (MT).

Trend: Resin has trended down the past quarter but has remained steady the past 3-4 weeks.

Tariff

On Monday, January 12th, President Trump posted on social media referencing a potential 25% tariff increase on countries continuing to purchase Iranian oil. At this time, there has been no official U.S. government documentation or policy announcement confirming such measures.

Additionally, the United States has not yet eased the existing additional 50% tariffs on India. While negotiations toward a bilateral or interim trade agreement have been ongoing and publicly described as progressing, no agreement has been finalized and no formal timeline for tariff reductions has been announced. Global-Pak continues to monitor developments closely pending official guidance.

Lead Times

Current lead times: 14-16 weeks, depending on the manufacturing site.

Example for planning: If you place a new order on January 12th, the expected arrival window is around late April to early May. Please factor this into your 2026 planning.

EPR Regulations

As part of our ongoing compliance efforts, we are closely monitoring the rapidly expanding landscape of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws across the United States.

Over the past year, multiple states have enacted or implemented packaging EPR regulations—each with distinct registration requirements, data reporting obligations, and fee-related deadlines extending into 2026 and beyond. These evolving requirements are already influencing how companies plan, budget, and operate. Staying compliant with EPR regulations can directly impact your organization’s market access, cost forecasting, packaging and design decisions, and overall risk mitigation strategy.

We currently have specific regulatory updates for California, Colorado, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Oregon, and Washington. For detailed, state-by-state insights, please visit our blog: .

As the EPR regulatory environment continues to evolve rapidly, we will be publishing quarterly EPR regulatory updates on our blog. These updates will highlight newly enacted laws, revised deadlines, compliance expectations, and key strategic considerations to help you stay informed and prepared across all affected states.
